EPR Authorization is required for Fluorescent and other Mercury containing lamps. It is the responsibility of Manufacturer / Importer to ensure environmentally sound management of E-waste generated by electrical / electronic products at the end of its life. E-waste contains harmful substances which can pollute the environment and pose a health risk if not managed properly. E-waste should be recycled or disposed of at designated facilities. General public should not dispose E-waste in municipal solid waste. Electrical / Electronic product which are outdated or nearing the end of their useful life,must be recycled or disposed of as per E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016. Under the said rules, it is mandatory for all manufacturers to get EPR authorization from Central Pollution Control Board for recycling their E-waste. EPR authorization ensures that the e-waste is recycled in an environmentally sound manner.
