About AYUSH
To ensure the greatest possible growth and dissemination of AYUSH healthcare systems, the Ministry of AYUSH was established on November 9th, 2014. Originally established in March 1995 under the name Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H), it was renamed Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003 to better reflect its focus on the advancement of education and research in these fields.

Qualification Required for Unani Manufacturing License:

A minimum of 1 person who is a permanent employee of the company and meets the minimum requirements for any of the following qualifications must be in charge of and oversee the production of Ayurvedic drugs. -

  • A diploma from a recognised university or institution in Siddha or Unani systems of medicine, Ayurveda, or Ayurvedic pharmacy
  • A diploma in Siddha or Unani systems of medicine, Ayurveda, or Ayurvedic Pharmacy from a recognised institution or college
  • A recognised university graduate in pharmacy, chemistry, or botany having at least two years' expertise in the production of ayurvedic pharmaceuticals
  • A Vaid or Hakim with at least four years of experience producing ayurvedic pharmaceuticals who is included in a state register of practitioners of medicine
  • a degree in pharmacy from an accredited institution and at least eight years of experience working in the Ayurvedic (including Siddha) or Unani systems of medicine.
